Fraknói Vilmos a historian, bishop and museum supervisor

The life of Fraknói Vilmos (1843-1924) is well documented on WIKI. He must have been a very gifted scientist with great mental capacity and distinct character as the fine sculpture shows. The sculpture is a work of Damko Jozef. A fine catalog of sculptors and their works in BUdapest can be found here.

Czako Adolf the man with owl and book

A sculpture of a man with all the attributes that one would connect with a scientist : spectacles , reading a book and the owl as symbol for wisdom and knowledge. I could not find out much about the person. However the serious expression in the face of the reader lifted off the ground on top of a pedestal and now studying in the neigbourhood of the branches and leaves of the sourounding sycamore trees might give some indication about the character and activities of Czako Adolf.

A family tomb

I found this figure group in remarkable contrast to many of the melancholic scultpures . The mother has a relaxed smile on her face and seems to comfort the children and the husband which are left back in sorrow. There seems to be confidence that the separation is not for ever.
