Falk Miksa (Max) 1828 -1908
100 years ago Max
Falk the editior in chief of the "Pester Llyod" died in
Budapest.
He was close to the famous princess "Sissi" and connected with the KUK
monarchy even though political liberal. After his studies of law and
philosphy he lived in Vienna for some years and worked as journalist
before he returned to Hungary. With support of Duke Julius Andrássy he
was elected chief editor of the "Pester Lloyd". From 1875 he was member
of parliament, and as chairman of the association of journalists he
founded the first social insurance for journalists in Hungary.
The sculpture on his tomb is a creation by Kallos, Ede.

Sándor Petőfi 1823 -1849
Sándor
Petőfi the hungarian artist became imortal in his short life as
gifted writer and enthusiastic revolutionary in those days of March 1848.
It was him who proclaimed the famous
Nemzeti
dal, the later hungarian national anthem. His writings represent a
traditional, popular and national attitude. His language could be
understood by average man and expressed the feelings and thoughts of the
simple people. He was lost in the fights against the Habsburg regime and
his body was never found. Jeno Bory was comissioned for the scultpure,a
Turul
bird with a harp, which was given to the public in 1911.

Solymossy Sándor (1864-1945)
Solymossy Sándor was an ethnograph and teacher at the university. The
sculpture seems to express his close relation to the hungarian people.
Bársony István (1855-1928)
Bársony István was a hunter and a writer (journalist),who still seems to be very popular in Hungary. There is even a Photoclub named after him.

Buday Barna
The name of Buday Barna is not noted in the official map of 1990, which
is a bit surprising because the tomb and the sculpture show clear signs
of aging. I assume that Buday Barna was a writer as the sculpture holds
a writing feather in the right hand.

This grave impressed me by the quite and meditative atmospere and the
special lighting in this very moment, when the sunshine fell through the
dark foliage of the surrounding trees.

Dezső Baron Bánffy de Losoncz (1843-1911)
Dezső Baron Bánffy was a politician. He was Prime Minister of Hungary
from 1895 to 1899 until his cabinet was outlawed and he was deposed.
Bánffy was considered a brutal prime minister, especially his harsh
reactions on the upcoming socialist movement and the strike of rural
workers contributed to his fall. The figure on the tomb embraces the
hungarian flag, probably a symbol for his nationalist attitude. The
sculpture was designed by KALLÓS Ede.

Dundi Jaczo 1883-1910
I could not find any information related to this scultpure. Possibly it
reminds us of a musician who only became 37 years old. At least he spent
his life time during a peaceful and prosperous period, often called the
"golden age".
